In the latest This Week in Tech podcast, technology pundit John C. Dvorak cites "a guy at Cingular who's testing the [iPhone]" as saying that the device's battery allows for significantly less talk time than the five hours Apple quoted in January. Fastmac announces laptop Blu-Ray optical drive upgrade. Steve Jobs wants to ditch iPod, iTunes DRM. With the flurry of hacks surrounding the Apple TV, including the ability to run a full version of Mac OS X, there's been some concern and unfounded speculation that Apple may be specifically disabling these hacks. Mac OS X Server Free with Mac Pro? MacNN reports that the 3GHz Xeon (Clovertown) processor that was introduced in the 8-core Mac Pro is a currently unannounced model. While unveiling a version of its professional desktop system that sports 8 cores of processing power on Wednesday, Mac maker Apple Inc. also cut prices on its matching array of Cinema Display flat panel monitors. Iconfactory releases iPulse 2.1.8, Twitterrific 2.0. Since Adobe's launch of Creative Suite 3.0 last month, interest in the software amongst creative professionals has skyrocketed, with nearly all attendees surveyed at this week's Photoshop World conference saying they plan to update to one of the new bundles by year's end.
